Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra Principal Flute Richard Sherman steps into the spotlight in Kevin Puts’ Flute Concerto. Written in 2013, this melodic and virtuosic piece will delight Chautauqua audiences.
The evening concludes with Franz Liszt’s Dante Symphony, choral symphonic poems based on The Divine Comedy. Singers from the Chautauqua Opera Conservatory join the Symphony under the baton of Music Director Rossen Milanov in a perfectly immersive evening including projected images.

Enjoy dinner out, then join us at Chenery Auditorium for classic Hanukkah and Christmas music. We're pleased to include Howard Blake's classic animated short film, The Snowman, this year, performed live to film with orchestra, soloists, and narration.
The Nutcracker with Ballet Chelsea

Ballet Chelsea proudly presents its 24th annual performance of The Nutcracker, a Christmas Eve tale about a young girl named Marie and her magical journey to the enchanted Kingdom of Sweets. Choreographed by Artistic Director Wendi DuBois, the Ballet Chelsea company artists, and the Jackson Symphony Orchestra musicians will come together for the fourth year to present this annual full-length, narrated ballet.
Works for Flute and Piano
A recital featuring the performers’ favorite works composed for flute and piano including Suite Modale by Ernest Bloch, select works by Claude Debussy, and a flute sonata by César Franck. ARTISTS: Richard Sherman, flute; Deborah Moriarty, piano. Generously sponsored by Thea Glicksman.

The CSO is a professional orchestra that draws its membership from around the nation and around the world. It has grown from its original complement of 52 musicians to the current roster of 74 active members. Every summer, Chautauqua Institution brings some of the world’s most talented musicians, vocalists, dancers and visual artists to the grounds for educational and performance opportunities amid our world-class culture and arts environment.
